OUR JOURNEY SO FAR

The Pumped story starts with our MD, Ellie Mills. London-based Event Producer extraordinaire, Ellie has spent the last decade building events for clients across the globe.

During that time, Ellie found herself repeatedly frustrated by the constraints of traditional build materials. In particular, the extortionate cost, transportation and storage, the amount of install labour required, and most importantly, the huge amount of waste generated.

Ellie was determined to find a sustainable and cost-effective alternative and that search led her to the Pumped Factory (formerly Airspace), located in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. Since 1993, the factory has been manufacturing custom-made inflatables to the highest artistic and technical standards.

With Ellie now at the helm, Pumped have perfected the art of inflatable sculpturing, and have taken the world of bespoke inflatables to new heights, both literally and figuratively.

Inflatable sets and props do it all: minimise waste and carbon footprint, lower costs across the board and allows clients to break free from traditional design constraints, to create stunning structures that surpass expectation.

Our magnificent structures meet international standards, and have provided striking units at events, festivals and experiential marking activations from London to Ghana.

FUTURE thinking…

Sustainability

Here at Pumped we are constantly striving to do better. Whilst our units themselves have a lower carbon footprint than traditional builds, we also like to recycle as much as we can on the factory floor.

We proudly collaborate with Sealand to responsibly upcycle our fabric off-cuts and waste. Sealand is a lifestyle brand that focuses on responsibly-made gear and apparel. All of their products are made from waste or responsibly and ethically-sourced materials.

Additionally, Pumped partners with several charities rooted in our local community. Our aim is to donate 10% of our net profit to charity each year. Very dear to our hearts is Santa Shoe Box which distributes gifts of essential items and treats for underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia.

Vision for the future

Our dream is to be able to produce our entire units out of recycled fibres such as used PET plastic bottles. We inch closer to this goal bit-by-bit with R&D and testing. While we’re not quite there yet, we are hopeful that in the next three years we can make this a reality. It would be incredible to offer our clients a chance to make their units out of the very same plastic collected from their events. Watch this space.
